Foyle's War Series Review
So as well as doing royal blogs I also want to do some TV Series reviews that I think are getting people to look at these TV series that I think people would like.
I'm very into detective series and there is this one particular series where I love as it gives a historical side which I always like in history.
My Gran introduced me to Foyle's War which is a crime series that is set in World War 2. The main Character called Christopher Foyle played by Micheal Kitchen who was a widower police officer who solves murder and other crimes during the war. He had a grown up son called Andrew who fought in the war as a pilot. Foyle as a widower was a very sensitive man who had compassion for the people around him. He had a driver called Samantha (Sam) who was like a daughter to him.
Although he always has a stiff upper lip in the series but in the series 2 episode when he re met his former girlfriend Elizabeth who declared her love for him again I saw genuine emotion from the character where he did tear up. The particular scene when he saw his ex-girlfriend he was probably thinking of his late wife who passed away young at the age of 29 as he looked on in emotion at her picture on his table.
I started watching the series only a few months ago and I have binged watched the series from the very beginning and I have been watching it over and over again because it's that good of a series.
The series was written and created by the same person who also wrote and created the other popular series Midsomer Murder and it was Michael Kitchen who plays Christopher Foyle who also produced the series.
The series follows crimes in World War 2. The series was also set in Hastings where the seaside town was a front line and was the leading seaside town who had had the most bombings. It gives historical background on how the war played out.
In the series Foyle was a police superintendent who led the investigations alongside his detective sergeant Paul Milner who later became detective inspector of Hastings. While Foyle later in the series worked in a secret service.
In the series it was announced that Foyle wasn't able to drive so they hired a young driver called Samantha who is called Sam among the team and by her close friends. Sam was a very young and curious girl who does try and help Foyle and Milner and gets herself into dangerous situations to help them. Foyle was considered a father figure to her who tried to protect her in these dangerous situations. In the final series Sam married a politician but still worked with Foyle in the secret service. It was announced that she was expecting and she asked him if he wanted to be a godfather to her baby.
For a short time Sam did have a relationship with Foyle's son Andrew and seeing that he was in the air force they tried to do a long distance relationship.
The series is on Netflix, ITVX and Acorn TV it is also on DVD too. I truly recommend this series and it's a heartwarming show with a sense of humour along with the realities of war and some of the tragedies of war.
